Projects / Cumbriana Proof

This project focused on Cumbria itself and looked at how people contributed to their community and determined the future of their lives and culture.

There were several components, the principle being the relaunch of the Coniston Water Festival including a community newspaper and radio station (Brick FM, run by former 80's pop star Jesse Rae).

Other components included 'It's a Lake District Knock-out', a live competitive event by Karen Guthrie & Nina Pope; a residency for seven American artists at the Wordsworth Trust (a development of Romantic Detachment); Creative Egremont, the initiation of a community arts strategy in West Cumbria; and Thinking Space for the North, a project to develop the derelict farmhouse of Parkamoor as a creative hub.
