Set 'Against Landscape' Again - Coniston Institute and Museum

AGAINST LANDSCAPE exhibition runs from 3rd June – 25th June 2017

Coniston Institute, 15 Yewdale Road, Coniston, LA21 8DU

Open Wednesday – Sunday 10.30am – 4.30pm or by appointment

Featuring painters: Lisa Milroy, Paul Morrison, Pamela Fraser and Daniel Sturgis

Curated by Daniel Sturgis with a few interruptions from Grizedale Arts

The exhibition considers the development of abstract landscape painting from early historic examples through to the contemporary - referencing the Romantics, John Ruskin and other ideas around the function of landscape painting, what it was meant to do to, and for us? The full exhibition including a wider range of historic works will be shown at GSA galleries in Glasgow throughout July.

Also featuring the multifunctional basket/tray/stool from A Fairland (Grizedale's major project in 2016) now morphed into a classic room divider and exhibition stand - developed from a collective design process by Tom Philipson
