A glimpse into the international arm of The Valley programme, this intimate exhibition documents the ongoing Grizedale Arts residency programme in Japan, titled ‘The 10-Year Expanded Dream of Kiwanosato’.
The residency programme is structured as an exchange-based learning school, and demonstrates a new approach to hosting participatory visitors, summer schools, and artists’ projects. The aim is to provide an insight into the mechanics of everyday life in a remote Japanese valley, in order to learn from their living, development, management, and collective working.
The exhibition will be hosted throughout the day by Motoko Fujita, the residency programme artist and manager. You can also expect a range of fine culinary moments from The Valley including pickles and rice, miso, and other local products, and Japanese food will be served by Fairland Collective within the exhibition.
