A project of evolving projects that aims to rethink the work of one of Lake District's most famous residents, 19th Century polymath John Ruskin, in a contemporary context. This body of work builds particularly on his later writings and actions that move away from conventional aesthetics towards a complex of radical and moral activity that incorporated performance, lectures, activism, politics, sociology, agriculture and art. The project will re-introduce the idea of Coniston's most prolific resident (and one time owner of Lawson Park) as a key figure in the formation of contemporary culture and society.
As part of this body of work Grizedale Arts made contributions to the exhibitions Can Art Save Us? at the Millennium Gallery, Sheffield, and Abstract Cabinet Show, Eastside Projects, Birmingham
We're also launching a new John Ruskin Memorial Blog ...
