CONFESSIONS OF A PSYCHIC

Peter Lamont is a researcher at the University of Edinburgh where he works on the history and psychology of magic, miracles and psychic phenomena. In the past, he has performed as a magician, fortune-teller and medium. He is a former President of the Edinburgh Magic Circle, has been to India in search of the legendary Indian Rope Trick and, more recently, has co-written and presented the shows, 'Seance' and 'Lessons in Deception'. Now working at the university, he has published on the psychology of magic and psychic fraud, and has taught about various extraordinary phenomena from ESP to spirit communication. He has performed at international venues from Holyrood to Hollywood, has been a consultant to television and radio programmes on the paranormal, and has lectured to students, psychologists, parapsychologists, journalists and magicians here and abroad. In this talk, Peter will be describing and demonstrating some of the techniques used by magicians and fake psychics.
