Mowing the pathways in the wild-flower meadow last week, I plugged in my iPod to drown out the racket of the petrol-driven mower. During the majestic throes of 'Shot from both sides' by Magazine I began to get into my stride, when the mower halter violently. I bent down to unclog the blades and yanked out a handful of damp grass only to find a revoltingly dismembered - but still alive - toad.
Suggestions for other sounds to mow to?

I only have a suggestion for sounds for pre-mowing.
We would offer farmers in the village to walk their meadows, banging pots, to get the young bambis moving, before they came in with their big mowers and diesel tractors. It was just too upsetting to see all those amputated bambis delivered to our doorstep, which had to be killed anyway.
Hm, it wouldn t have saved the toad though.
Otherwise I like the sound of grass mowers, get some with different gears and you can pretend to race a motorbike up and down the peaceful hills.
I m now going back to get the insert ready for the Folk Float for Egremont.......but strolling thorugh the lawson park farm blog is always too temting.
