At Grizedale

Sir Paul is a fashion designer whose business and reputation is founded upon his menswear. He is both commercially successful and highly respected within the fashion industry. His company, made of 12 different brands, operates from London and his hometown of Nottingham, where he opened up a new warehouse in 2008.

Paul was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000, after nearly three decades as a menswear icon. His collections of clothing and accessories are usually identified by the presence of his multi-stripe signature somewhere on each item.

His association with Grizedale stems from the Forest Billboard project: When The People from Off's David Shuttleworth image was pasted up, Paul Smith (the brand, not the man) organised a photo shoot in front of it for their 1999 menswear catalogue. Other pictures were taken throughout the forest, but the billboard was that year's money shot. Fashion loves a bit of rough and tumble. Coincidentally, it was the following year that Paul got his knighthood.
