Born 1967, United Kingdom. Lives & Works in United Kingdom.
Nina was one of the American artists included in ‘Romantic Detachment’. With Brian Dewan and Doug Skinner she made the CD, ‘Patient Island’, an album in tribute to Roosevelt Island’s history as a repository for the sick, the indgnent and the criminal. In the early 19th century it was claimed that the rural setting provided an environment conducive to healing and rehabilitation. However the conditions between increasingly overcrowded and miserable, and the line between patient and inmate was a fine one.
Otherwise Nina is principally a photographer, working with themes of classification and collections and their eccentricities, best exemplified by her ongoing 'Sorted Books' project (1993–present). She also makes sculpture and video.
