At Grizedale

Calum was the first artist to arrive at Grizedale in 1999 under the new directorship of Adam Sutherland, having previously worked with him at art.tm in Inverness. Calum works in film, sound and sculpture, often expressing quick, witty comments in a visual way. His first work at Grizedale was a t-shirt bearing the logo "LOCAL", in which he was pictured undertaking such local activities as driving the school bus. Further works included a pine-scented forest air freshener, a dry stone wall incorporating stones bearing sportswear logos, and sound work that used tree movements to manipulate sound, erroneously giving the impression that the trees were making music.
